A Digital Video Recorder works the same
way as a regular VCR, only digitally operated. When it is not recording, it
can be used as a multiplexer.
A multiplexer is a communications device or
equipment for combining several signals, such as data, voice, fax etc, to an aggregate
stream of bits for transmission over a single medium or a public/private carrier. The
multiplexer also provides compression and spoofing. The data is then separated and
processed for outgoing purposes.
