When
setting up for dial-up connection, you will need to know your
server computer’s IP address. The following instructions will guide you in
finding the IP address of your computer:
For
Windows 98:
- At the desktop of your server computer, left click
your mouse at the start button of Windows.
- Move cursor up to select “Run”. A “Run” window will
show up.
- Enter “winipcfg” into the text blank, then click
“ok”. An “IP configuration” window will show up.
- Click at the drop down arrow and select the name of
your network card.
- An IP address of your server computer can be read
off below the drop down box.
All
others or the DOS command method:
- At the desktop of your server computer, left click
your mouse at the start button of Windows.
- Move cursor up to select “Run”. A small window
titled “Run” will show up.
- Enter “CMD” or “command” into the text blank. A
“MS-DOS” window will show up.
- Type "cd.." (cd and two colons) and hit "Enter" (or
"Return") key.
- Type "ipconfig" and hit the "Enter" (or "Return")
key.
- The IP address of your computer will be listed.
If
all else fails:
- At the desktop of your server computer, left click
your mouse at the start button of Windows.
- Move cursor up to select “Help”. A “Help” window
will show up.
- Click at the “Search” tab.
- Type in “IP address” or similar words for searching,
then click list topics.
- A list of related topics will show up.
- By clicking the proper one of your choice will
provide you details of finding the IP address.
- If non fits your choice, try searching again using
other similar wordings.
